Team Meeting (Another brainstorm session)

Team meeting no 2: We did a lot of planning together and came up with this Our initial idea was to have a group of friends all of whom suspiciously receive a cake at the same time. Originally the plot was based around a psychotic serial killer who would send a cake to his victims before kidnapping and murdering them. Acknowledging our resources we had to make adjustments to our plot accordingly. Our story is based around the representation of gender. We finally chose to show only three characters; the baker, the victim and the customer. after many rough drafts, mind maps and discussion we decided we still wanted to base our plot around a psychopathic baker. We especially wanted to make a thriller as it keeps the audience hooked to the screen, therefore the baker plot seems perfect as it will keep the viewers at the edge of their seats. Our baker will be a young man and our victim will be a frail girl to show the stereotypical representation of men in media to be superior...

Inspirations.

Inspirations The opening sequence for our film, where James, the baker, is shown working in the bakery’s kitchen, preparing a cake was inspired by the opening sequence of Episode 1 of the television series Better Call Saul. The idea of the showing the viewers a montage of our antagonist peacefully working, while the viewers are unaware of his intentions or his personality, specifically preparing a dessert, came to me when I was watching that show. Shot in stark black and white, the episode showed Saul living incognito in Omaha, Nebraska — working in a Cinnabon, frosting cinnamon rolls, preparing the dough, ordinary activities carried out by a person like him. I also wanted to show an ordinary side of James, a calmer side of the antagonist before he unravels his wrath before the audience. I used this scene to maintain a mystery for the viewers, and introduce the character in a creative and interesting way.                 ...

Our first try to work together as a team and brainstorm ideas for our pitch.

Synopsis Assignment.

We were assigned 15 minutes to come with a pitch for a movie in just 25 words that would encapsulate the plot in an eye catching way. The genre picked by our teacher was horror. Our pitch: “ Voices in his head, led John into an old villa where be senses a friendly entity. Little did he know how all hell was about to break loose”  The  title was “ Spirits in my head”
